Van jones has been a lifelong activist for environmentalism, Human rights, racial equality, green economies, and fair/equal treatment under the law. Van Jones was Born in Jackson Tennessee,1968 . He quickly became interested in law and politics at an early age, in fact, in only two years after attending Yale University for law and earning his three-year Doctorate, Jones created the Bay Area Police Watch, the first organization of its kind in the nation. Van believes that the community has the responsibility of keeping its police in check, and he has accused police of brutality, detentions, domestic spying, profiling and other attacks on human and civil liberties. Jones has fought for human rights of 15 years through the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights (EBC), which develops and supports community-based organizing.
Basic Methods that were used to attack this issue included the offices in state’s to hire , discipline, supervise or discipline other police officers, particularly those officers who have repeatedly committed police brutality and other misconduct, formulate rules that limit the use of force by the police and by developing “early warning systems” that Van Jones verified officers with high rates of citizen complaints, and looked over with his organization. Another method that was used against police brutality was to take a legal action on police and sue them. with this method, the police were forced to deal with this issue.. Financially! they were either sued or have their job taken from them, Although in most of the cases fired. Basic obstacles in police brutality include that Van Jones at times could not exactly pinpoint a specific whereabouts of police brutality, and in some cases people were not into reporting police brutality simply because they were too scared .Van Jones overcame this obstacle by creating the Bay Area Police Watch.
“We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future”,.Anthony Kapel Van Jones still plans to work on issues retaliating police brutality and hate crimes. he founded four organizations working on major hate crimes and violence on people all over human rights and also tends to help the lower class. Van Jones says he is determined to still advocate for policy reforms that place young people in appropriate rehabilitation programs instead of youth prisons, educate the public with rallies and events, media work, a website, and documentary screenings, and organize parents and families of incarcerated youth.
